There are no jobs for me!!!!!

sign_home1More and more I have been seeing students who are struggling to find a job or internship in today’s market. In times like these, students and alumni turn to their respective Career Centers and frantically ask what we can do for them! Can we find them a job? Do we have any resources available to help them find a job? What kinds of internships are available to them?

For undergraduate students, seriously consider a PAID co-op position. Log on to e-recruiting (through DePaul’s Career Center) and check out the co-op positions that have been posted.

Go to a networking event or Job/Internship Fair! There are 2 coming up:

The Winter Job and Internship Fair is Tuesday February 17th from 11-3 in the LPC Student Center Room 120 and the other one is the Healthcare, Science and Technology Job and Internship Fair on Tuesday March 3rd from 11-3 in the LPC Student Center Room 120.

I have been seeing so many students who are panicking about finding the right internship for the summer or who have been contemplating their next move after graduation. The best advice I can give is to take advantage of the resources around you. Use e-recruiting, post your resume, attend a networking event, go to a job and internship fair, contact past employers, and network with people you already know. I know from my personal experience, I thought it would be hard for me to find a job after graduation this spring so I decided to stay in school but I keep getting e-mails from e-recruiting about internships that have just been posted and seen the list of employers that are scheduled to be at the Winter Job and Internship fair, it might not seem as daunting to find to find one as I had initially assumed. You just have to know where to look!
