Calling All Seniors!

Posted by Marianne under: Marianne .

It is SENIOR SEASON here at the Career Center. With the current economy, I would have to say that this is one of the worst times to graduate. Speaking as a senior, I understand the reality that I, and so many of my peers, are in.

However, we have our own stimulus plan going on at the Career Center because many of our services and events are being tailored toward the Senior Class. We have the Mobile Career Center initiative starting soon so watch out for tables all over campus, not just outside the Career Center. Additionally, we have started the Senior Season Quick Stop which are daily walk in hours specifically for Seniors who need help job hunting.

The Visual Art and Digital Design Forum is on Tuesday April 21st from 4-6 in the Lincoln Park Student Center Room 120. This is yet another great networking opportunity for students majoring in Animation, Art/Art History, Communication, Digital Cinema, Interactive Media and all of the other majors related to the design field.

Wondering how to get that job you’ve been dreaming of? Nervous about the interview? One of my fellow Peer Career Advisors found this wonderful article provided by the Wall Street Journal. It has tons of advice that I didn’t even know about. Take a look!

As always, the Career Center staff is available to answer any questions you might have. During times like these, it is important to take advantage of as many resources as possible. Although I am going to graduate school in the fall, many of my friends are looking for jobs and are somewhat panicked about the odds that they will find something they will enjoy. All I can do is provide the resources available to me and help my friend or peer become that much more marketable.

Good luck to everyone on the job hunt!
